Isle of Wight

Bathing Sheds on Cowes Beach.

We caught the Ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth and headed to Cowes then Newport then Ryde where David decided to have a ride on the train... they are old London Tube trains so how could he resist eh? I drove to Sandown and picked him up. We drove around the Island, stopping for a long very cold walk at 'The Needles' when we got right out to the end there were gates bolted and we couldn't see them!! I remember seeing them 29 years ago when we sailed from Sydney to England on the 'Australis', some English people we'd got to know were getting very excited waiting to catch a glimpse of the Needles which meant we were almost at Southampton and... for them... Home.
As much of the Needles as we could see.
We decided to take the car to the Isle of Wight today, last time we visited we left it at Portsmouth and used the train and bus to get around, I remember having a lovely day with Nerys aged 6, Tomos 4 and baby Briony.

I don't know if it was the weather or what it was today but David and I just couldn't work out why anyone would want to Holiday here, there are many tacky so called 'Tourists Attractions', hundreds and hundreds of dubious looking Holiday Accomodations and the beaches are mostly pebbles... some sand but too many pebbles for a relaxing lie in the sun. We did see a Thatched Church though.
