Vale Lord Rennell of Rodd

Died suddenly on the 9th of December 2006, a Memorial Service is being held today at St Margaret's Church in Putney. Tomos will be our representive.
Lord Rennell, known as Tremayne, was a distant cousin of ours, well that's what he called us... our side of the Rodd Family arrived in Australia in 1820, Rodd Point and Rodd Island in Sydney are named after those first settlers. As long as I can remember we've known the Rodds in England with David and I visiting Sir Francis Drakes home, (which was then owned by a Rodd) way back in 1968. Tremayne stayed with us in Turramurra while his son James lived with us for 6 months.
We visited Tremayne and Phyllis a few times while we were living in England, they were a very welcoming and happy couple to be with and we were shocked to hear of his death at the age of only 71. Tremayne had a knack of making everyone he met feel happy to be in his company, he was very friendly and most charming, we will miss him.

Hi
Just stumbled across your blog.
My mom was a Rodd living in South Africa.
Her late father Edward Scott Rodd came out to SA in about in the mid 1930's.
Do you know this side of the family.
Excuse somewhat disjointed message, we are at a restaurant and were googling and chatting family.

Hello Andrew,
I know a fair bit about our Rodd Family, came to Australia from the West of England in 1822 and I think that most of the Rodd's in Australia are related.
I know there were Rodd's in Canada but I don't have any records of Rodd's in South Africa... Are you on Ancestry.com ? I just had a little search but only came up with an Edward Rodd who came to Brisbane in 1923.
cheers Pennie
