I have lots of new best friends.
My brother Tim has a son who is a Jockey, he's rather good at it and is pretty well known to those who know how to put money on horses, which is something I've only done once before in my life.
On the first Saturday of every month I meet many SCQuilters (my internet friends) at the Pennant Hills Inn which is handy to a large Patchwork Shop, the Rail Station, has a large free Car Park, does a decent lunch and they allow us to sit in their comfortable covered Beer Garden for several hours sewing and chatting... it's quite a sight for those workers used to seeing nothing but drinkers but the Publican loves us and we bring the tone up a tad. LOL
Last Saturday I decided I'd put money on the seven horses Michael was riding at Rosehill that day but of course had to find my mate Bill to help me... he helped me two years ago and he's always got a 'Hello, what is Michael up to?' each month and I know he thinks I'm a little strange not knowing all the Goss. I once asked the barmaid if Bill was at the Pub on the first Saturday of every month... 'No' she said... 'he's here EVERY DAY!!' No wonder he thinks I'm strange!
Bill filled out all my tickets and told me to come back at what ever time was on the next ticket. Each time I came in to watch the races I seemed to have more and more best friends around me... 'Here she is' and 'The race is just starting,' 'He's wearing a yellow cap in this one' and 'That's Michael Rodd's Aunt', could be heard as the drinkers hustled around he television to watch the race... Michael won a race and the cheer went up, it seems almost everyone there had money on him because I was in the Pub :-) I heard someone say, 'Did you know she's Michael Rodd's Aunt?' to Bill... and he said... "Oh I know, I filled her tickets out for her!' It was fun but I don't think I will do it again... I bet $35 and Michael had one win, two seconds and a third so I received $30 back.
